Common Questions

1When exactly do options expire?

Monthly US options expire on the third Friday; expiring equity options trade until 4:00 PM ET (some large ETF options such as SPY until 4:15 PM), and exercise decisions are accepted until 5:30 PM ET. Our options expiration guide covers cut-offs, auto-exercise and pin risk.

2What does Max Pain mean?

Max Pain is the strike price where option holders would experience maximum loss. Price often gravitates toward this level at expiration.

3How to interpret Put/Call Ratio?

Ratio > 1 = more puts (bearish), < 0.7 = more calls (bullish). Neutral ratio is between 0.7-1.0.
